Landscapes in China
In one of the Tamil movies, I saw a song filmed in China. I was mesmerized by the scenaries and I wanted to visit at least one or two of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKDWXC4o5nA I managed to visit the red beach in Panjin and the Yuanyang terrace fields near Kunming. I also managed to visit the rainbow mountains in Danaxia.
China is a very disciplined country and the people are very helpful. Very few speak or understand English. They try online translators to communicate with you. Travel by train is comfortable and cheap. Bookings are online and the gates to a platform allows only who has a valid ticket for a particular train. The gates open about five minutes before the train arrives.
The Red Beach is located in the biggest wetland and reed marsh in the world. The red colour of the beach is due to a plant which is widely spread all over the area. Its growth cycle starts in April when it is colored light red, while the color of the mature species is deep red.
Rainbow mountains is situated in Zhangye Danaxia Geopark in Gansu province. It is about 125 sq. miles. It is one of the most beautiful landforms in China. The site was also named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. The area has unusual colours of the rocks, which are smooth, sharp and several hundred meters tall. They are the result of deposits of sandstone and other minerals that occurred over 24 million years. Shades of oranges, yellows and blues dominate the area. The colors tend to appear in thick straight lines that traverse the peaks and valleys of the mountain range. The place is well organized and there are sight seeing hop on hop off buses which take round the area to the viewing platforms.
Yuanyang terraced fields is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fields are terraced along the steep southern slopes of Ailao Mountain. The colour of the terraced fields change according to various seasons in a year. The colours are due to the flowers they bear and the foliage. There are three main scenic areas.
