About me
My parents are from Kerala – India. I was born and brought up in Colombo, Sri Lanka. While doing my Advanced Levels, my parents decided to send me to India. I did PUC in Popes College, Sawyerpuram near Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu. I entered Stanley Medical College in Chennai as a 1968 batch where I obtained my MBBS degree in 1974.
Having worked in General Surgery and General practice, I came to the UK in 1979. For about seven years, I worked in various hospitals around London and gained experience in Orthopaedics and General Surgery. I obtained LRCP, MRCS and Primary FRCS during that period.
Subsequently due to change of career, I worked in Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Accident and Emergency departments. I underwent GP training and became a GP in 1991. I opened my own practice in 1998 and gradually built it up. At present it has four GPs. We also have a nurse, health care assistant, phlebotomist and a pharmacist.
We have a large number of Tamil speaking patients mainly from Sri Lanka. I have special interest in Orthopaedics and General Surgery and used to do most of the minor surgery in my practice.
I speak Tamil, Sinhalese and Malayalam. I retired from NHS service in June 2021.
